Questions others have asked:Once installed, are the stairs treads permanent or could they be removed at a later date?
I have wooden steps leading into my garage that I would like to cover.
Hi Kimberly,
Thank you for your question. They are not permanent. However, when you remove them there will be adhesive and pieces of tread stuck to the wood, so you will have to do some scraping to get it off.
Thank you,

How many gallons of adhesive will I need for 30 - steps & risers using the 48" x 20-7/8" product?
Hi James,
Thank you for your question. If you have 30, 7" risers plus 30, 48" x 20-7/8" treads, then it comes out exactly 3 gallons. If you have more risers or just want to be safe, I would recommend 4 gallons. We do recommend you re-calculate this your self, each gallon covers 100 soft.
Thank you,

Good evening,
I have a question regarding the Rubber Stair Tread Latex Adhesive. How long after applying a coat of the adhesive do I have to wait before installing the rubber stair tread?
Best,
Gualberto
Hi Gualberto,
Thank you for your question. You can apply the stair treads immediately after applying the adhesive.
Thank you,

Reading some of the info regarding applying adhesive to the stair and stair tread and nosing, you said to put EPOXY NOSE CAULK, does that mean I need to put that on top of the adhesive also or is it not necessary if I apply the adhesive only. Once applied, how should one press or hold the tread on the stairs?Clamps? I will be receiving the "square nose" rubber treads next week, thanks.
Hi Tony,
Thank you for your question. It's not necessary to put the Nose Caulk over the adhesive. The Nose Caulk should be applied as a bead underneath the 90 degree corner of the nose, and the adhesive applied everywhere else. No clamps are necessary, just push apply the stair tread and roll it with a roller. Here is a link to the installation instructions. http://kofflersales.com/pdf/Stair%20Tread-installation-from-koffler.pdf

Should the adhesive be applied to both surfaces before putting rubber tread on wood steps? Will (1) gallon cover (14) steps 36" wide ? Can the adhesive be shipped by UPS or FedEx ?
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your question. Yes, one gal. will cover the job. Each gal. covers a total of 100sqft. Here are the installations: INSTALLATION OF RUBBER STAIR TREAD: After the steps have been prepared and the stair treads cut and fitted as described, begin installation by spreading adhesive on the stair step completely covering the surface and the nosing.
When using contact adhesive, the adhesive should then be spread on the bottom of the stair tread and completely underneath the nosing. Always follow instructions on label of adhesive container.

We suggest coating two steps and two treads at one time, and then install the treads, as described below. An alternative suggestion is to apply adhesive to every other step on a flight of stairs, install those treads; go back and do the remainder.
The most important factor in proper stair tread installation is to see that no air space exists underneath the nosing part of the tread. The tread must not flex or move as traffic walks across the steps. Epoxy Nose Caulk should be used as described on the label.
Thank you,
The Koffler Team
What sized trowel do you recommend
Hi David,
Thank you for your question. For installing stair treads, you would use a 1/16" square notch trowel.
