White Plexiglass Acrylic Sheets are great for lighting, lighted signs, and solid signs. Light transmission of white acrylic sheets change with sheet thickness. The thicker the white sheet the less light is transmitted. KSC offers two shades of white: #2447 white sheets offer the greatest light transmission and is best for lighting, light boxes, and light tables; #7328 white sheets are best for backlit signs.
Color: #2447 Gloss White and #7328 Gloss White (see construction details)
Acrylic (polyacrylate) is marketed under many trade names including Plexiglas, Lucite, Perspex, Policril, Gavrieli, Vitroflex, Limacryl, R-Cast, Per-Clax, Plazcryl, Acrylex, Acrylite, Acrylplast, Altuglas, Polycast, Oroglass, Optix.
These differ from Lexan which is polycarbonate, and is sometimes used as bullet-proof glass. Although it is more shatter-resistant, it is more expensive than acrylic, yellows with prolonged exposure to sunlight, and is much more easily scratched. Therefore acrylic is more ideal for most interior and exterior design purposes.

White acrylic sheets are also known as plexiglass or Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)
#7328 white acrylic sheet light transmission: 1/8'=31%, 3/16'=23%, 1/4'=17%
#2447 white acrylic sheet light transmission: 1/8'=50%, 3/16'=42%, 1/4'=35%, 1/2'=19%
Please note: light transmission of white plexiglass sheets (also known as white acrylic plate) change with thickness. Therefore 1/8" 2447 lighting white will transmit more light than 3/16" 2447. Basically the thicker the white, the less the light transmitted. This is true with all white and translucent color sheets. There may be small differences in color between manufacturers and between batches, but the colors do not change with thickness.
Measurements are in Nominal Size - sheet sizes can vary from manufacturer and some are cut from larger sheets, sizing may be +/- saw cut
Thickness tolerances are +/- 10% on acrylic sheets and can vary throughout the sheet. Normal variance seen is less than 5%.
Plexiglass is a common term used to describe acrylic. Plexiglas® is a registered brand name. The scientific name for plexiglass or acrylic is Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)
For higher impact resistance than acrylic check out KSC's polycarbonate sheets.
