Helping a friend move into a new loft. The stairs are open, with metal grated treads, no risers. Her dogs wont use the stairs. Because she is renting, we are looking for an easy to install option of a vinyl tread with 1-2" nosing, that can be applied over metal. Cheap and easy, as this is a rental.
Hi Jill, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, rubber or vinyl will not adhere to the metal grates. Here is one option, however it's not going to be inexpensive. These can be screwed to the metal graded treads depending on the grates. Also, please keep in mind that having no risers sometimes scares dogs as well. https://kofflersales.com/p/metal-stair-treads-flexmaster.asp?cid=21 Thank you, The koffler Team
Is this tread non-slip. If so, how is that accomplished. Thanks
Hi Bob, Thank you for your question. There are a little non-slip qualities do to the rib design. However, if you are looking for better non-slip qualities in a vinyl tread we would recommend our product #A60531 which can include a non-slip strip. My stair tread is 1" but the medium guage round nose spec is 7/8" thick at the nose. Being vinyl will it flex enough to fit 1" or is that a bad idea?
Hi Gary, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately this product will not flex that much and probably is a bad idea. However, please click this link and view a product that can flex to the size you are interested in. http://kofflersales.com/p/tread-treads-light-gauge.asp?cid=66 Thank you, ThE Koffler Team
Is the round nose style designed for a 3/4" plywood tread? If so is there any additional prep required where the nose wraps under the plywood? I will be installing 13 Vinyl tread covers and would like to anticipate requirements. Thanks!
Hi John, Thank you for your question. It will fit a 3/4" plywood tread. However, if the 3/4" is rounded then you will need to purchase the round nose. If the 3/4" is squared off then you will need to purchase the square nose. As for installation instructions, please go to this product page and click the tab titled, "specifications". In the bottom right box you will see our installation instructions. Thank you, The Koffler Team
can it be mitered for an exposed step on one side?

I am removing carpet from stairs to the basement. We want something that is stain resistance (pets). I think the carpet is covering 2X12 wood steps. Would your product completely cover that?
Hi David, Thank you for your question. Yes, our product will completely cover that. Thank you, The Koffler Team
Can the medium guage vinyl stair treads be tacked down to the steps instead of glued? And can they be cut down to proper depth -- front to back, that is -- with a table saw? (Medium guage seems to come only in 12" depth, but my stairs are only 9-1/4" deep.)
Hi Glenn, Thank you for your question. They can be tacked down to you steps. Of course though, that's not factory recommended. Yes, they can be cut in any direction, however we recommend you use a utility knife. Thank you, The Koffler Team
The stairs that I plan on installing the treads is about 9.5" depth. Is the vinyl tread easy to cut to size using a utility knife?

I plan on re-doing my interior house stairs - I like much soft feel of carpet on stair thread, but do not like the look and safety. All flooring in the house are laminate and tiles. Any ideas or pics to show how combine carpet or laminate, and stair nose?
Hi Vit, Thank you for your question. Please visit the link below to see our assortment of stair nosing. We believe the first 3 products listed along with the 5th product will give you plenty of options. Can I install vinyl stair treads on top of carpeted stairs? If yes, how do I do this? Thanks
Hi Jim, Thank you very much for your question. Unfortunately, you cannot install vinyl stair treads over carpet. You would have to remove the carpet first and install the vinyl stair treads over the wood using vinyl stair tread adhesive, which is available from Koffler Thank you, The Koffler Team
